Rochon was born at Torrance (a suburb in Los Angeles), is the daughter Zelma Staples. Her parents are Samuel Staples a graphic designer and businessman. Cerritos High School in Cerritos California is the place where Rochon finished her high school education in 1982. Rochon graduated with a diploma in broadcast journalism from California State University Dominguez Heights (CSUDH) in 1986. Her minors included sociology, theatre, and theater. Ullerup was cast in the role of Julia Brynn, a character in the remake of Battlestar Galactica that aired 2006 on Sci Fi Channel. The character she played, Ashley Magnus, was made up of the show's first and second seasons. The reason for her departure caused heated debate among the viewers. Many wanted to bring her back on the show in a subsequent episodes, but the show ended in 2012. Ullerup made an appearance on Chesapeake Shores as Bree O'Brien. Ullerup played Maggie Thomas the estranged husband of Michael Thomas. Ullerup played Dale Travers, a recurring role in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered films from 2016 until present.
